Daddy's Home Out the front door I stepped As he pulled into the drive His face covered full with hair Like that of santa's pride. Who was this man before me My father's friend I was sure I started off to tell him That my father was not here. So long gone was he away To a child it seemed forever Like a dream that never ended But soon would get much better With the puzzled look he gave As I'm sure I had one too He opened up his arms and said boy did I miss you Just like in a movie My heart was pounding loudly The longest foot I ever ran into the arms of daddy Cheryl L. THE ONES IN NEED BY CHER
Poverty can be unseen Poverty can be in your facePoverty is what no one wantsPeople want it in it's place
Why, do we treat people soWhy don't we try to knowThe kind of people who are in needThe ones who need to beg and plead
For your kindness and your heartFor your ear to listen and your eyes to seeHow bad life can really be
We walk on by, some of us sighSome want to help, others want to look awayWe grumble and say get a jobSome lend a hand and lift them up
Imagine if you canImagine, not a manBut a child crying out for foodOr crying for help from painNow Imagine if everyone listenedIf everyone helpedIf everyone opened their eyesIf we all just made that step
To do a little extraTo open our hearts and never turn away!
But for now we pretend it's not thereFor now we don't seem to careFor now we refuse to seeFor now they cease to be......literally
How do we close our eyes and justifyThe fact that we just walked on by??.....
