Poetry by Cher-Poem writing tips

Poem writing tips
A poem is one of the most personal forms of written expression. A poem is without . It should be open, honest, and accessible to the reader. If you have been bitten by the poetry bug. Write poems—lots of them. Write as many as possible, good or bad, then pick the ones you absolutely love and look at a way to get them published. Chapter books are a good start...(see blog on chap books.)

Learn the fundamentals of poetry. Don’t limit your study to reading published poems. That’s like looking at a car on the showroom floor to learn how the engine is designed. Look under the hood. Read books on the subject. Practice a variety of styles and forms. Most of all , keep it yours. Keep your style, your feel and your form.
Write from your own experiences, your own visions, your own thoughts. What you love, what loves you, when you are sad, when you are angry, happy, all the emotions that hit us in the gut.
Then write, write what you feel. You can form your poem however you like, you can write and rewrite it, the more you write, the faster you will see it suddenly form and come to life.
Finally...............enjoy what you are doing, if poetry is not a passion, but frustrates you, try something else, it may not be for you. If you love it, continue on, you will be successful!
Happy writing!
