Cher's Poetry-Such is Life

Such is Life (Poetry by Cher)
To my children, Nate, Ellie, Stevie

Such is Life, that is to be
How we live, it, you and me
To be kind and happy , is how it should go
To help one another and all join the show
Such is Life, that we struggle in vain
Everyday we see such horrible things
All around us is hate, greed and pain
Why does this world prey on such things
Such is Life, that we don't often see
How really wonderful it could be
Just to open our eyes, to seize the day
To enjoy the miracle of life in our wake
Such is Life, that if we don't stop
All the fighting, killings, guns that go pop
We may not be one day, how sad that would be
To lose this wonderous world full of glee
Such is Life, that to live is the greatest gift of all
Let's get together, don't drop the ball
Peace to our children and theirs one and all.

DADDY's HOME -by Cher

Daddy's Home
Out the front door I stepped
As he pulled into the drive
His face covered full with hair
Like that of Santa's pride.
Who was this man before me?
My father's friend I was sure
I started off to tell him
That my father was not here.
So long gone was he away
To a child it seemed forever
Like a dream that never ended
But soon would get much better
With the puzzled look he gave
As I'm sure I had one too
He opened up his arms and said boy did I miss you!
Just like in a movie
My heart was pounding loudly
The longest foot I ever ran
into the arms of Daddy!

POETRY SCAMMING?

Has Poetry.com stopped scamming?

For a long time, I thought of the International Library of Poetry and its online - Poetry.com scamming would-be poets by advertising big cash prizes, then accepting everything submitted to them as “high quality” work, and asking the poets to purchase the book-sized volumes with their poetry at a high price. Now, Watermark Media Group, the original owner of the Poetry.com domain, has gone out of business, and the domain name has been sold to Lulu.com, the big online print-on-demand self-publishing site.

from Publishers Weekly:
Lulu.com Launches Lulu Poetry, Introduces Contest,” by Lynn Andriani“Self-publishing site Lulu has launched a Poetry site, www.Poetry.com, where users can connect with other poets and digitally publish their own verse at no cost. The site resembles Lulu.com in that it is targeted toward writers who want to connect with their peers and have access to resources to receive reviews and feedback on their work.”
Lulu Poetry Separate from Former Scam Site,” by Lynn Andriani“When self-publishing site Lulu announced earlier this week that it had launched a Poetry site at www.Poetry.com, some confusion ensued. That’s because before Lulu bought the domain Poetry.com, it was owned by Watermark Media, which had operated a “contest” on the site that was largely regarded by the online poetry community as a scam.”
Will Lulu Poetry be any better than the original Poetry.com? It’s still vanity publishing, but at least Lulu appears to be upfront about what they do.
