Merry Christmas Dad-(i miss you very much)

Daddy's Home
Out the front door I stepped
As he pulled into the drive
His face covered full with hair Like that of santa's pride.
Who was this man before me
My father's friend I was sure
I started off to tell him
That my father was not here.
So long gone was he away
To a child it seemed forever
Like a dream that never ended
But soon would get much better
With the puzzled look he gave
As I'm sure I had one too
He opened up his arms and said boy did I miss you
Just like in a movie
My heart was pounding loudly
The longest foot I ever ran into the arms of daddy

THE ONES IN NEED BY CHER

THE ONES IN NEED
BY CHER

Poverty can be unseen
Poverty can be in your face
Poverty is what no one wants
People want it in it's place

Why, do we treat people so
Why don't we try to know
The kind of people who are in need
The ones who need to beg and plead

For your kindness and your heart
For your ear to listen and your eyes to see
How bad life can really be

We walk on by, some of us sigh
Some want to help, others want to look away
We grumble and say get a job
Some lend a hand and lift them up

Imagine if you can
Imagine, not a man
But a child crying out for food
Or crying for help from pain
Now Imagine if everyone listened
If everyone helped
If everyone opened their eyes
If we all just made that step

To do a little extra
To open our hearts and never turn away!

But for now we pretend it's not there
For now we don't seem to care
For now we refuse to see
For now they cease to be......literally

How do we close our eyes and justify
The fact that we just walked on by??.....

Poetry by Cher-How to get Published

Publication objective

Size of audience

Size of publication

Publication

Objective

If your goal is to become a best seller , a chapbook is not the way to go, but if what you're aiming to sell is small, conventional book publishers will not usually be interested. You might consider trying to sell your works to several literary magazines and such.

Size of Audience

Now, if you are trying to gain national recognition, you will most definitely want to submit your works, query letter and all, to conventional publishers.

Chapbooks will help you, though, if you are trying to reach a local audience.

This is not to say that a chapbook cannot get wider attention, especially with the the Internet; however, if you just want to get in touch with the people in your area, chapbook will definitely be sufficient.

Size of Publication

Chapbooks are relatively small. Usually, they are less than 50 pages in length, though a few of them are a bit longer.

Poetry and short stories are usually what chapbooks are best suited for.

Ways to Publish.

Self-publish at home. Chapbooks don't have to be complicated publications with a pretty glossy cover.

Some card stock, printing paper, software, the right stapler and a good printer can get you started.

Best of luck, now get started!

Poetry by Cher- She has it all!

SHE HAS IT ALL!

SHE HAS IT ALL AND DOESN'T KNOW,

SHE HAS IT ALL, BUT LACKS THAT GLOW,

SHE HAS IT ALL BUT CANNOT SEE,

SHE HAS IT ALL WHAT CAN IT BE?

SHE CRIES ALL NIGHT, THE TEARS THAT BURN,

SHE TRIES TO FIGHT, THE LOVE THAT YEARNS,

SHE WANTS TO SCREAM AND LET IT OUT,

SHE HOLDS IT IN, WITH PAIN AND DOUBT.

SHE WATCHES THOSE WHO WALK ON BY,

SHE SEE'S THE OTHERS, SHE WONDERS WHY,

SHE HASN'T GOT WHAT THE OTHERS HAVE,

SHE KNOWS DEEP DOWN, AND IT MAKES HER SAD!

SHE SEES IT ALL, THE GLITZ , THE GLAM,

SHE SEES IT ALL, WHAT'S THE MATTER MAN,

SHE KNOWS THAT THERE IS A BETTER WAY,

SHE SEES IT ALL, WHAT CAN I SAY.

SHE HAS IT ALL I SAY AGAIN,

SHE HAS IT ALL FROM NOW TIL THEN,

SHE HAS IT ALL, HOW CAN THAT BE,

SHE HAS IT ALL, IT'S FAMILY!

Poetry by Cher-The Loom

The Loom
The shuttle of her loom Thuds dully against the rug,
being woven, from the rags, Tags of other peoples lives.
I watched her in the cellar, with shadows whispering in the corners.
She seemed ancient to me, even then.
The fingers bent, the breasts sagging.
Myself wrapped in the coccoon of her quiet whistling.
The shuttle thuds
Over the days and years of my adolescence.
Surely youth: So sure, so independant.
She weaves the rug from the rags Tags of other peoples lives.
And the foreign woman, with the tooth-gold-capped,
and Loblaw's shopping bag Full of tatters.
Arrives too late for her four dollar rug.
The loom-dismantled, Bound, sold.
Another time-gone.

POETRY BY CHER-THE FUNNY MAN

The Funny Man
To the Memory of John Ritter

Into my home, day after day
Into my heart he came to play
I laughed out loud at that man on t.v.
I cried many times cause he touched me
Year after year, like many
I watched him fall and pick himself up again
He prevailed over so much
He had a magic touch
He died today on September 11 2003
John Ritter was his name, and this hurts me
A great talent is gone, a kind man at that
I sympathize with his family
I hope they know, how many
Lives were touched by this wonderful man
I cry, I sob, I'll miss you
Signed,
a fan

Poetry by Cher-Memories

Memories

As the years wear on, I sink into myself wondering if
I'll ever know What made me sick so long
I take the pills
I see the doctors
I suffer the pain
I hear the shrills
How was I to know what lurked in my mind
Not knowing was hurting, But to know, well
Did I want to?
Filing through my memories was scary to say the least
What I was to find was not fit for man nor beast
Infact it was a man in my past
I was to see
This man was there, when I was young,
and hewas hurting me
Now I take the pills
And hope to be much better
But there is no cure for
A baby girl who is hurt forever

POETRY BY CHER-PANIC

Panic

With every move I make, I cry
With every thought I think, I cry
With every one I love, I cry
With every heart I break, I cry
I cry for the life I had
I cry for the soul I lost
I cry for the love I gave
I cry for the ones I miss
Panic took my life
Panic took my soul
Panic took my family
Panic took it all
But Not Any More
No more will I cry
No more will I quit
No more will I hide
No more will I die
I take my life back
I take my soul back
I take my family back
I take myself back,
Panic you lose!

Poetry by Cher- Baby

Poetry by Cher
Baby

Too small to see
Too hard to believe
Too crazy to be true
But it's there in you
No easy way out
No way around
No time to waste
Reality must be faced
It grows in you
It moves all about
It's part of you now
You must deal somehow
There's no other way or
You'll regret it someday
Keep that baby of yours and
Love it forever more

Poetry by Cher- How to get published

Poetry by Cher-How to get published.

There are so many places to get published online. The resources are there, you just have to check them out thourouly. Watch for publishers that want money upfront, I wouldn't fall into that trap.
Places like Poetry.com are a great place to start. They publish your poems and for a small fee you can buy a book or a book on tape
You can also enter contests, and there are word play games within the site.

There are other publishers online, good ones, all I can say is check them out. Make sure they will follow up with what they offer and as I said above......never pay out anything in advance.

I will check out some more sites and get back to you about who's the best to go with.

For now keep on writing, its good therapy and doesn't hurt to have plenty to work with.

THE DARKEST DAY-by CHER

THE DARKEST DAY

TO NEW YORK CITY

The greatest tragedy of all
Was watching the towers fall
On 911 was the day
When the planes crashed into world trade
The world was sent into mourning
As thousands of lives fell to dust
Sad and angry we're we that
Someone could do this to us
War they say was declared
Retaliation was the words of The heads of our country
That osama bin landin must pay
We still we wait this day
With hope that some are still living
At the bottom of the rubble so deep
Oh how new york city does weep
Be careful are my words to thee
For more we're involved than we can see
Pray for peace in this world
Love all people, boys and girls

Mary Kate
Me made a friend the other day
Him had no name
or wouldn't say
Hims tail was wong
Face wosey wed
Poor wittle mousy
Me finks hims dead
No eyes
nor mouth.
Me went to check
and hims tail wapped
wound me wittle neck.
(written about my cat who got wrapped up in the computer mouse, while curious)

POETRY BY CHER- DADDY'S GONE NOW

POETRY BY CHER

Daddy's Gone Now
about my Father

I wrote a poem about how he came home,
How I missed him so much, To a child it seemed forever.
Well forever is here,I'm no longer a child,
For now he's not home he's passed on into the unknown.
Years passed like a short day ,How I wished I'd made them longer.
Once here, then gone it seems so wrong
Like the snap of a finger, or a blink of the eye
My Daddy was gone, my Daddy died!
That Daddy of mine, whom I will Love and miss forever more
I'll see you again one day
But for now I'll stay,
I have kids of my own and they need me home.
So I say see you later
This is Not good bye
I will see you again the day I die.

POETRY-BY CHER- DADDY'S GOING

DADDY'S GOING
Daddy's Going
Don't cry my babies
Daddy's not gone forever
Mommy & Daddy just can't seem to get it together
Somedays's are good you know, but most are not
So Daddy must now go
He's not far away
He will visit often ,you can see him when you wish
So don't cry my kids
It'll hurt for a while, for all of us it must
It'll take getting used to
But hear me and trust
Don't cry my babies
Things will get better
Now, we move on and Hurt no more

POETRY BY CHER- HOW TO WRITE A POEM

HOW TO WRITE A POEM
First of all, there is no way I can tell you how to write a poem!
I can suggest ways of getting going, but a poem usually comes from the heart!
Ask yourself:
How much time do I want to take to write a poem. Some may come to you quickly and others may take some time.
You have to decide what is most important to you.
Some of the great poets wrote them in minutes, and some were written over a long time.
I think the main focus is to write about something that you know, or something that you are passionate about. If you have something that is bothering you, or something that hurts you, or something you are extremely happy about!
This is how we write from the heart, when we hurt, when we are happy, when we are angry, all the emotions help for a good poem to come out and help to capture your own feelings, and maybe connect with another person who reads it.
If you are stuck for ideas, go to a thesaurus or a dictionary, or read another poets work, look at magazines or books that interest you, and soon enough ideas will come flooding to you.
Finally I say again, write from the heart, that's where all the good stuff is!

POETRY BY CHER-SUCH IS LIFE

Such is Life (Poetry by Cher)
To my children, Nate, Ellie, Stevie

Such is Life, that is to be
How we live, it, you and me
To be kind and happy , is how it should go
To help one another and all join the show
Such is Life, that we struggle in vain
Everyday we see such horrible things
All around us is hate, greed and pain
Why does this world prey on such things
Such is Life, that we don't often see
How really wonderful it could be
Just to open our eyes, to seize the day
To enjoy the miracle of life in our wake
Such is Life, that if we don't stop
All the fighting, killings, guns that go pop
We may not be one day, how sad that would be
To lose this wonderous world full of glee
Such is Life, that to live is the greatest gift of all
Let's get together, don't drop the ball
Peace to our children and theirs one and all.

POETRY BY CHER-THE FAMILY

The Family

Close family knit so tight
Come together and start to fight
They love each other but begin to smother
So to breathe they have to go....
No one wants to admit to wrong
Everyone sings their own little song
To be right is the key
But the door stays shut tight....
Over and over again it goes
But only a few will feel their woes
Some will hurt so very bad
And the rest will go home sad....
Love thy family is what they say
The past is gone so live for today
For blood is really thicker than water
To thin it out would be dishonor...
Tomorrow's just another day
But to some the day has dawned....
So sing their praises sing them now
And hope the hurt will pass somehow.....
